Key Responsibilities:
- Estimator must review project specifications, plans, and drawings to understand project requirements, scope, and timelines.
- Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to gather necessary information, such as materials, labor requirements, and fabrication processes.
- Conduct site visits or assessments, if required, to assess project conditions and potential challenges.
- Analyze project costs, including material costs, labor hours, subcontractor costs, equipment expenses, transportation, and overheads.
- Utilize estimating software and tools to calculate accurate and competitive project costs.
- Research and analyze current market prices for materials, equipment rentals, and subcontractor services are part of the role of an Estimator.
- Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to obtain accurate pricing and availability of materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to negotiate favorable pricing and terms.
- Evaluate vendor and supplier performance based on quality, cost, delivery, and reliability.
- Prepare comprehensive and detailed cost estimates, ensuring alignment with project specifications and contractual requirements.
- Collaborate with the sales and project management teams to develop competitive pricing strategies and prepare proposals or bids.
- Ensure proposals are properly structured, inclusive of all relevant costs, and highlight the company’s capabilities and value proposition.
- Conduct risk assessments and evaluations for each project, identifying potential risks, challenges, and mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with the project management team to incorporate risk factors into the estimation process and propose contingency plans.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of estimation activities, cost breakdowns, assumptions, and pricing details.
- Prepare regular reports on estimation accuracy, project progress, and financial performance.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on data analysis.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance the estimation process, incorporating lessons learned, industry best practices, and customer feedback.
- Collaborate with relevant teams to implement process improvements and streamline workflows.
- Collaborate with the sales and project management teams to clarify client requirements, address inquiries, and provide technical explanations of cost estimates.
- Participate in meetings or negotiations with clients to discuss and present cost estimates, ensuring clarity and alignment with project goals.
- Assist in developing and managing project budgets, ensuring cost estimates align with project profitability targets.
- Collaborate with project managers to track and manage project expenses, identifying areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Job Qualifications:
- With at least 3 years of experience in similar roles within the steel fabrication industry
- Must be a College graduate
- Can understand and speak English
- Proficiency in MS Office & Microsoft Dynamics
- Can submit a Certificate of Employment related to the position
